Dovetail Chisel

  • Blue Spruce Toolworks Dovetail Chisels are specialty chisels designed for the light chopping, paring and precision fitting of your finest joinery. They have a refinement, balance and feel that is unmatched. They are machined from A2 steel alloy, heat treated and tempered to a Rc60 hardness and then precision ground to fine tolerances. The 4 inch long thin blade is just the right length for close-up intimate work, while still allowing clear visibility to the work piece. The unique concave side bevels allow the chisel to pare right into the tightest corners of dovetail joints and give a refined, elegant look to the chisels.  They will become your favorite chisels when only the finest work will do. They are available in blade widths of 1/8 inch to 1-1/2 inch, three different handle styles, three wood choices for the handles and two finishes for the ferrules. The maple handles are hard, figured maple that has been infused with acrylic resin. This makes an extremely dense and tough handle that can take pounding from a mallet. Optional Cocobolo and African Blackwood handles are only available to USA customers. There is an additional option if you wish to supply your own wood for the handles.

See the tabs above for illustrations of handle options and blade sizes and then use the drop down menus below to select your options. You must select the width of blade, style of handle, type of wood, ferrule finish and whether you want a smooth handle or fluted handle.

Note that we make your chisels to order and try very hard to keep lead times to a week or two at the most. On very rare occasion the lead times can be up to 6 weeks.

Please note that due to current CITES regulations we are unable to ship African Blackwood, Cocobolo and other Rosewoods or dalbergia outside of the USA. Please do not order these options if your final shipping destination is not in the USA. Thank you for your understanding.
