Blue Spruce Toolworks fishtail chisels are some of the finest quality fishtail chisels available today. Though specifically designed for cleaning out dovetail sockets, fishtail chisels could become a favorite for any detailed paring needs. The blade has a 5:1 taper ratio and a width of 3/8 inch or 1/2 inch. They are available with a choice of wood for the handles as well as a handle style.
Blue Spruce Toolworks dovetail skew chisels are specifically designed for fine paring and fitting of joinery such as dovetail joints, secret miters, angled joints, etc. They are machined from A2 steel alloy, heat treated and tempered to a Rc60 hardness and then precision ground to fine tolerances. The sides are machined with a concave profile and ends in a thin land. This allows maximum visibility and prevents bruising of angled joints. They are available in both 1/4 and 3/8 widths and usually ordered in left and right hand pairs. You will not find a finer, precision chisel.
See the tabs above for illustrations of handle options and blade sizes and then use the drop down menus below to select your options. You must select the width of blade, style of handle, type of wood, ferrule finish and whether you want a smooth handle or fluted handle.
Note that we make your chisels to order and try very hard to keep lead times to a week or two at the most. On very rare occasion the lead times can be up to 6 weeks.
Please note that due to current CITES regulations we are unable to ship African Blackwood, Cocobolo and other Rosewoods or dalbergia
outside of the USA. Please do not order these options if your final shipping destination is not in the USA. Thank you for your understanding.
