A visit to Port Townsend

September 17, 2011

This past weekend I had the opportunity to visit the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend, WA. I was a guest of The Port Townsend School of Woodworking founded by Jim Tolpin, John Marckworth and Tim Lawsen and shared a booth with them and Mike Wenzloff. The school is located in an old power generation building on the grounds of Fort Worden built in early 1900's. You can actually stay at some of the old officers' and NCO's  Houses.  The weather was perfect and the boats were amazing.  The town is Victorian and has many examples of fine architecture. If you are thinking about taking some woodworking classes and would like to visit a really neat part of the country, check out Port Townsend. Here a few pictures from the show:

Some of the many boats to see. Most owners would let you board and take a close look.

Yours truly giving a talk about chisel selection. Can't beat the view!
