The Blue Spruce Bench Chisel 3-Piece Expansion Set adds 1/8", 3/8", and 5/8" chisels to complement the 4-piece Bench Chisel Set. These in-between sizes give you more options for fine joinery, including narrow dovetail pins, mortises, and other work where a specific chisel width makes setup easier.
Each chisel is made from cryogenically treated A2 tool steel hardened to Rc 60-62 for edge retention. The blades are lapped flat and polished to a mirror finish, so they arrive ready to use without initial tuning. Balanced handles are made to match the existing Bench Chisel Set in feel and appearance.
The set includes three bench chisels in 1/8", 3/8", and 5/8" sizes. For a limited time, it also includes a FREE Sharpening Square, a compact layout tool intended for accurate bench work and sharpening setup. Together, the expansion set and bonus square help round out your chisel setup with more size choices and a useful sharpening accessory.

Blue Spruce Chisels come surface ground, lapped and polished to an unmatched level of performance. A truly sharp chisel edge requires two perfectly flat, polished faces—but most chisels don’t come that way. They typically need hours of sharpening, honing, lapping, and polishing before they’re ready for serious work. Blue Spruce Chisels eliminate that hassle and comes with top of the line preparation.
Superior Edge Retention
Perfectly sharpened is a great first step, but how does it hold its edge? Each chisel is machined from A2 tool steel, then double-tempered and cryogenically treated. The tempering and cryo treatments result in an incredibly fine grain structure and a hardness of Rockwell C-60 to C-62. These chisels take and hold an edge like no other.
Perfect Ergonomics
Bench Chisel blades extend 4-1/2" beyond the ferrule. The standard chisel handles fit most hands comfortably for both mallet work and delicate paring cuts. You have two choices of wood for the handle: Resin-Infused Figured Maple or Bolivian Rosewood.
Sharpening Square
The compact design of the Blue Spruce Sharpening Square allows you to check the chisel or plane iron while it’s still in the guide, saving you time and effort. And, as one solid piece of stainless steel, water, oil and dross just wipe right off. And, we made the square just 3/32" thick so it’s easier to get proper alignment. You will get unmatched precision in a tool that’s perfectly sized for its job.
