Making Drawers, Part 1

October 31, 2012

I have put off making drawers for the Hope Chest until near the end because I was not confident in my dovetailing skills. I have not had time to hone my skills with many real projects. Actually, this project is only my third with hand cut dovetails.

Topping It Off

September 04, 2012

I seem to misplace things more and more lately, or maybe it just seems so. And when you simply cannot find something no matter how long you look, it is time to call it lost. Such is the case with a whole session of pictures I took while working on the lid to my hope chest project.

Drum Roll Please....!

Coming Together

Wood Prep, Part 2

July 30, 2011

Its a love-hate relationship. When starting a project, I love the anticipation of starting something new and working out design details, choosing wood and getting the shop all ready to go, I hate the process of preparing the rough wood stock.

The Plane Truth

July 26, 2011

Crack! My eyes opened with a snap. Tap, Tap, Tap Patter Patter. My mind slowly came to the realization that it must be raining. We don't get many thunderstorms here in Oregon but early in the morning we had a good one.

Blank Sheet

July 19, 2011

Some woodworkers agonize when faced with a blank sheet of paper. Others get excited just thinking about it. I fall into the second category. I cannot shut off my mind from thinking about new projects. I will get an idea and immediately want to start sketching it out.
