The unique blade shape of Blue Spruce Dovetail Chisels makes them perfect for light chopping, paring and precision fitting of your finest joinery. The 4" long, 1/8" thin blade is sized just right for close-up, intimate work, allowing clear visibility of your material. The unique concave side bevels allow the chisel to pare into the tightest corners of dovetail joints. They have a refinement, balance and feel that is unmatched. 

A truly sharp chisel edge requires two perfectly flat, polished faces—but most chisels don’t come that way. They typically need hours of sharpening, honing, lapping, and polishing before they’re ready for serious work.  Blue Spruce Chisels eliminate that hassle and come in two levels of preparation:

STANDARD: Ready to use out of the box. Perfectly surface ground on both top and bottom faces. Sharpened with a micro bevel and ready for your finest woodworking projects.

PREMIUM: Top of the line preparation. Surface ground, lapped and polished to an unmatched level of performance.

Perfectly sharpened is a great first step, but how does it hold an edge? Each chisel is machined from A2 tool steel, heat treated, double-tempered, cryogenically treated, ground, lapped and polished to perfection. The tempering and cryo treatments result in an incredibly fine grain structure and a hardness of Rockwell C-60 to C-62. Blue Spruce Chisels take and hold an edge like no other.    

Blue Spruce Dovetail Chisel blades extend 4" beyond the ferrule. The standard chisel handles fit most hands comfortably for both mallet work and delicate paring cuts. There's also a longer version those of us with larger hands will appreciate. You have two choices of wood for the handle: Resin-Infused Figured Maple or Bolivian Rosewood.

This set adds two larger chisels to the 4-piece set, making it ideal for larger furniture joinery.  1/8”, 1/4", 3/8”, 1/2", 5/8” and 3/4".

Our most complete set includes every size you’re likely to need to create precision joinery: 1-1/2", 1", 3/4", 5/8", 1/2", 3/8", 1/4", and 1/8".

Please note, wood is a natural product and wood grain, color, and figure vary greatly. No two chisels will look exactly alike, but we make our greatest effort to match each of your chisel handles when purchased as a set. If you are not satisfied with your chisels, contact our customer service and we’ll be more than happy to assist you.
