Fall Preparations

Lead photo by www.medievalhistories.com

Summer is always a paradox here at Blue Spruce Toolworks. Our sales are predictably slower but we are busier than ever!  In addition to making tools, it is a time to do product and process development, shop improvements and to get ready for the upcoming busy fall season.

European Woodworking Show 2017

This year we have the privilege of packing our bags and heading over to the UK to visit our friends at Classic Hand Tools.  On September 16th and 17th they are hosting the phenomenal European Woodworking Show  at the Cressing Temple Barns. Dawn and I are looking forward to renewing some friendships we made in 2015 and meeting many new friends.  The thirteenth century barns at Cressing Temple are amazing; add in nearly a hundred top artisans and tool makers from around the world and it is a weekend not to be missed.

Woodworking Saw Update:

We are thrilled to announce the beginning of production of our new woodworking/coping/joinery saw. What should we call it? Send your ideas to Dave@bluesprucetoolworks.com. This is a surprisingly rigid, but lightweight saw perfect for cutting curves, removing dovetail waste, and coping trim work.  The highly tensioned blade can be locked in 8 different positions and can also freely turn while under tension. This very unique feature gives the saw continuous scroll cutting capability.

Blue Spruce Toolworks woodworking saw feels rock-solid. It is crafted with a multi-piece aircraft aluminum and high tensile strength carbon fiber frame,  a true fusion of engineering and art. The beautifully fluted handle fits the hand comfortably and provides precise control. Aesthetic elements bring harmony throughout the design of the saw. It uses standard coping saw blades and with optional blade adapters will also use standard fret saw blades. Stay tuned and I will let you know when pre-orders will be open. We plan to ship these saws in November, 2017.  This is the woodworking saw you have been waiting for. You will not be disappointed.

Mike's Man Cave Stuff

Mike is our in-house machinist and runs our CNC machines. He is also starting his own small business making super cool tap handles based upon the Mopar pistol grip shifters from the 1970's.  They are high quality anodized aluminum with beautifully contoured wood grips, perfect for your Man-Cave, shop or your favorite watering hole!  Check out his Etsy page here: Tap Handles

Saw Name…

“Scroll Saw GT”

Why? Simple and extensible, in case you develop additional “F1” inspired tools.
GT: Grand tourer (Italian: gran turismo), usually a high-performance luxury automobile designed for long-distance driving

Super cool. Best wishes.

Wow. Really looking forward to this. A coping saw is the one I use the most it seems and I have about 7 different brands of them and they all get the job done but they all suck overall.

One of our most popular tools is our Dovetail Chisel. It fills a niche for those who need to do precision work and do not want the bulkiness of a full size bench chisel.
