Full Marking Tool System Set

Precision lay out is the foundation of fine joinery. Blue Spruce Toolworks was founded to help woodworkers elevate their lay out work with a simple but finely crafted marking knife. That simple marking knife has now evolved into an interchangeable system of blades, awls, handles, and collets that covers any marking requirement. The Blue Spruce Marking Tool System builds confidence by delivering superb quality and maximum versatility in the most crucial stage of your work.

Whether your project involves dovetails, mortise and tenons, half-laps, center points, or simple crosscuts, the Blue Spruce Marking System has the right blade, a comfortable handle and a bullet-proof system to combine the first two elements into one solid tool. But, what’s wrong with a fine pencil line? Why should you mark with a knife at all? If you’re working with hand tools, the cut from a marking knife gives your chisel or saw a physical reference to start your cut. Your tool won’t skate and slide, it will register firmly in the kerf and follow it.

The blade collection begins with a group of 4 spearpoint blades. The shape allows you to mark vertically against a reference on either the right or left side of the blade. The blades range in thickness from just .020" to a substantial .062". If you prefer a single-bevel knife, the Full System Set gives you both a right and left skew.

Mark screw positions or hole locations with pin-point accuracy with one of the three awls. The small one is perfect for jewelry box hardware. The large handles more generalized work and the bird-cage tip can actually drill a perfectly round starter hole with just the twist of your wrist.

To control the blades and awls, the Full System Set includes both the Classic style handle (5" long) and the Joiner’s handle (3-5/8" long) to give you control of your cuts in different situations. The Classic handle will make the marking knives feel like a fine fountain pen in your fingers. The Joiner’s handle will give you a substantial grip on the awls. The handles come in your choice of two woods, Resin-Infused Curly Maple and Cocobolo.

The precision-machined collets transform a blade and a handle from mere components into one purposeful tool. Four collets cover the entire range of blades and awls. All four collets work with the included handle designs.

Last but not least, the Full Marking Tool System Set comes with a sturdy, waxed canvas wallet to keep all of your components protected and organized.
